Gift - Chapter 2Chapter Two The DreamGift - Chapter 2
The chamber was dark; he could barely make out a thing from his viewpoint somewhere near the huge wooden doors. Several feet to his right sat a purple-skinned creature with a batlike anatomy, watching the two figures standing by the huge stone table in the centre of the room with intent golden eyes. Puzzled, he turned to see exactly who they were, but they were swamped in shadows, their figures indefinable. Quiet, murmuring voices drifted through the still air towards where he sat - or at least, where he thought he sat. He didnt seem to have a conscience of himself any more, but rather simp

Gift - Chapter 1Chapter One Winds of DestinyGift - Chapter 1
A soft breeze stirred the long grass that stretched off into the distance in a patchwork of fields that surrounded the small town of Graciel, rippling under the clear sky. A small church reached its rusted spire into the chill air, worn gravestones and crosses filling the walled-in area around it, standing in the thick grass like stern grey guards, though some of them were tilting wearily due to their age. The town spread out to the west of the graveyard, small houses standing together on disordered and higgledy-piggledy but neat streets, the faint chatter and hubbub of a small and busy co

Gift - ProloguePrologueGift - Prologue
The eerie luminescence of the pale moon drifted in through a small, glassless window high up in the eaves of the huge, dark stone chamber, the low fluttering and distant squeaking of bats settling in the intricate carvings of the cathedral-like ceiling made louder in the oppressive silence. Illuminated by a beam of soft moonlight, the creature lying motionless on a stone slab built onto the wall of the chamber could easily have been dead - however, he wasnt even sleeping. Deadly, three-inch-long fangs protruded from a wolflike muzzle, long ears laid flat against the creatures neck, its great ches

AwakeningSlowly, a pale, faded light penetrated the shadowy darkness that consumed his mind, bringing memories to the surface as he drifted back into consciousness. Gleaming white fangs, the gleeful snarls of the beasts as they tore into his flesh A groan fled his lips as he desperately tried to push the memories back, but all he could see in his minds eye was the terrible wet crimson of his own blood, everywhere. His body trembled at the memory of the awful, wrenching tearing of his limbs as they were severed - No! - and the hideous crunch of bone. Surely he couldnt still be alive after that. All that filled his slowly awakening minAwakening

LID: RealisationStumbling across the uneven ground under the pouring rain, her small, soaked wings a dead weight on her back and her long hair plastered to her face and across her pointed ears, Kerrili Sylvarin almost lost her footing on the slope of the forest floor as she lifted her gaze to see exactly what was going on. She had been called here urgently by Sharidans friends, saying hed been involved in an accident in the forest and needed help. There had been no time to contact his father; she had barely been able to concentrate on giving her young daughter to their next door neighbour to look after before racing away into the violent storm, fLID: Realisation

One Last MomentThe forest was silent as dusk settled over it, turning the still trees to an eerie blue as the sounds of birds singing ceased. A lone vixen padded into the darkened clearing from a small copse of trees, searching for prey with wary amber eyes. Suddenly, her whole body tensed as her black ears pricked forwards, then a twig on the opposite side of the clearing cracked and she bounded back into the undergrowth, her instincts taking over, as a figure emerged. One Last Moment
Tall and pale-skinned, his dark hair falling into his face, the figure muttered a curse to himself as he untangled a twig from his fringe, before glancing around with blue
